Attached by a hydrophobic moiety of octadecanoic acid methyl ester. Active against S. aureus, K. pneumoniae, E. faecalis, S. epidermidis, M. luteus, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, P. mirabilis, S. streptococcus, C. albicans. However, this molecule may also have undesired proerty to help bacterial biofilm formation. The source of Brevifactin (lipopeptides; bacteria) is a marine actinobacterium, Brevibacterium aureum MSA13.
