This 427-amino acid fragment fully encompasses the tr-type G domain, making it an ideal tool for investigating No-Go Decay pathway mechanisms and ribosomal quality control processes.
The full-length HBS1-like protein (HBS1L) is a crucial GTPase component of the Pelota-HBS1L complex in human cells, primarily localized in the cytoplasm. This complex plays a vital role in recognizing stalled ribosomes and initiating the No-Go Decay (NGD) pathway, a critical mRNA quality control mechanism. The Pelota-HBS1L complex specifically identifies ribosomes stalled at the 3' end of mRNAs and destabilizes mRNA within the mRNA channel. Following mRNA extraction by the SKI complex, the Pelota-HBS1L complex facilitates ABCE1 recruitment, which drives disassembly of stalled ribosomes and subsequent degradation of damaged mRNAs through the NGD pathway, ensuring proper cellular protein synthesis and mRNA quality control.
