A DNA sequence encoding the mature form of human MAP1LC3A (Q9H492-1) (Met1-Phe121) was expressed with a polyhistide tag at the C-terminus.

The recombinant human MAP1LC3A consists of 127 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 15.1 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 17 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

Microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3A

Ubiquitin-like modifier involved in formation of autophagosomal vacuoles (autophagosomes). Whereas LC3s are involved in elongation of the phagophore membrane, the GABARAP/GATE-16 subfamily is essential for a later stage in autophagosome maturation.
