    YEATS4 (also known as Gas41 or NuBI-1) is a crucial chromatin reader component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which plays a fundamental role in transcriptional activation through acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. The protein specifically recognizes and binds acylated histone H3, demonstrating preferential binding to histone H3 diacetylated at Lys-18 and Lys-27 (H3K18ac and H3K27ac) or Lys-14 and Lys-27 (H3K14ac and H3K27ac), and also recognizes crotonylated histone H3.
